A votre sante! Wine expert Joe Bastianich, diet and fitness advisor Joy Bauer tell NBC TODAY Show’s Hoda Kotb about the health benefits of having a glass.

So what have we learned?

It’s Official: Chemicals Contributes to Cancer

Posted by The ClinicAid Team | 0 comments

“The President’s Cancer Panel is the Mount Everest of the medical mainstream, so it is astonishing to learn that it is poised to join ranks with the organic food movement and declare: chemicals threaten our bodies,” wrote the award-winning journalist and advocate Nicholas D. Kristof in an op-ed article for the New York Times.

In a landmark report released earlier this month, the cancer panel called on America to rethink the way we confront cancer, including much more rigorous regulation of chemicals. The 200-page report pointed out that public health officials have “grossly underestimated” the role environmental contaminants play in the 1.5 million Americans diagnosed with cancer each year.

The President’s Cancer Panel urged that we give preference to organic food, check radon levels in our homes, and microwave food in glass containers, not plastic ones.

The report blames weak laws, lax enforcement and fragmented authority, as well as the [...]

Happy National Women’s Health Week!

Posted by The ClinicAid Team | 0 comments

When was the last time you saw your doctor? Your gynecologist? Your dentist? If you can’t remember, schedule a check-up this week, during National Women’s Health Week.

The purpose for the weeklong observance being promoted by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services? Empower women to make their own health a top priority, encourage them to take small, manageable steps to improve their health, and reduce their risk for many diseases.

“This year, I encourage women to celebrate themselves by focusing on their own health and well-being,” said Surgeon General Dr. Regina M. Benjamin. “The most important steps women can take to improve their health include eating a well balanced, nutritious diet; getting regular physical activity; avoiding unhealthy behaviors, like smoking; and paying attention to mental health.”

Dr. Benjamin is also urging all women to make an appointment with their health care professional for regular checkups and preventive screenings.

So what can you [...]

Video: St. Jude Kids Celebrate Mom

Posted by The ClinicAid Team | 0 comments

Just for Mother’s Day, a video to make you smile. We simply had to share this adorable video from the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The pint-sized patients at the acclaimed cancer research facility filmed themselves thanking their moms for the unconditional love and support during their battles with childhood cancer.

Cancer affects everyone in the family. When a child is touched by the formidable disease, the mother whose world revolves around her children, is often the most affected.

We’re so happy to help St. Jude share these special moments. And we’re proud to be part of the larger movement that’s making these moments possible.
This weekend, we celebrate mothers, mother figures and caretakers all over the world. Thanks for the love and inspiration.

Happy Mother’s Day from ClinicAid!

Slow Roasted Apples with Maple Whipped Cream

Baked apples are a quintessential but super sweet American dessert. This version uses agave nectar that has just as much flavor.
Agave nectar is slightly sweeter than sugar, has a low glycemic index, and may be a better source than sugar for people with diabetes or anyone watching their blood sugar levels. Agave nectar is primarily produced in Mexico, where the agave plant has been used [...]
